Steve was born and raised in the 'thumb' of Michigan where he still lives on a horse farm raising and training Standardbreds. He has been involved with harness racing for over 40 years as a groom, trainer, breeder, owner, and amateur driver. Steve joined the CKG Billings Harness Driving Club in 2005 making a host of great new friends while traveling the world. He is currently President of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association, Vice President of the CKG Billings Harness Driving Club, a Trustee at the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in Goshen, New York, and a Director of the United States Trotting Association. Steve won the Billings point championship in 2007, 2008, and 2010, and the Billings Gold Cup Final in 2010. Steve has also traveled to New Zealand and Italy representing the United States in amateur driving competition.

After graduating from Western Michigan University, Oldford joined his family business designing and supplying automotive components. He is married to his very tolerant wife of 30 years, Gale.
